This year the Šibenik Christmas Fair will be richer for the VR Snow Fort, a place where modern technology and the rich history of Šibenik come together! From December 9th until December 16th Fortress of Culture Šibenik will present interactive games set in the past centuries thanks to virtual reality (VR) technology, all inside the dome placed in the center of the city (Ivan Goran Kovačić Square).
FIRST PRESENTATION OF VARIOUS VR GAMES
The four interactive games are intended for people over ten years old, and can be played by anyone who wants to try their hand at using old weapons virtually, defending Šibenik and its fortresses, escaping from a dungeon or racing through the old city center, with an incredible feeling of how realistic it all looks once put on your VR glasses!
Entry to the dome and participation is free for everyone!
SNEAK PEAK TO FORTRESS OF CULTURE MOBILE APPLICATION
In addition to VR games, visitors will be able to download recently developed Fortress of Culture mobile application! Designed for every pocket, the mobile application provides all useful information about fortresses and programmes in the House of Arts Arsen, all in one place. It also enables members of the Šibenik Fortresses Friends Club to have a virtual membership card and quickly and easily use the benefits of membership.
CONTENTS DESIGNED AS A PART OF EU PROJECT
Fortress of Culture has designed and implemented these contents as part of the EMOUNDERGROUNDS project. Thanks to the implementation of new technologies in the interpretation of heritage, future visitors to the St. Michael's and St. John's project will learn about the history of Šibenik in an interactive and modern way. The special emphasis in VR scenarios is on town's fortification system development and its use over the centuries.
On the other hand, the mobile application will allow visitors to quickly and easily navigate fortresses present, i.e. the contents that Šibenik's fortresses provide and the programmes that are held there. Members of the Šibenik fortresses friends Club will definitely benefit the most, as they will be able to use their benefits through the mobile application in the future.
ABOUT PROJECT
EMOUNDERGROUNDS project (EMOtional technologies for the cultural heritage valorization within the UNDERGROUNDS cross border) implementation is co-financed from the Interreg ADRION transnational cooperation programme, in the amount of 85% of the value. Total project value is is 2.599.994,86 €; Fortress of Culture budget amounts to slightly more than 2 million HRK (321.907,53 €), and the most significant investment within the project relates to the implementation of VR technology for the purpose of storytelling at Šibenik fortresses.
