Last night, Šibenik witnessed a musical spectacle that will be remembered for a long time. The two-hour concert by Kyoto Jazz Massive, joined by the Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra in an expanded line-up, brought a pure fusion of energy, virtuosity, and irresistible groove to St. Michael’s Fortress.
From the very first note to the final encore, the world-class musicians kept the audience on their feet. Dancing, applause, and ovations followed every song, while the performers made no secret of how much they were won over by Šibenik. Vocalist Indy Eka expressed her gratitude, saying:
"Every time we come to Croatia, we feel special — and it’s because of you. Thank you, you’re the best!"
Led by Shuya Okino, Kyoto Jazz Massive perform in a formation that regularly sells out clubs worldwide, confirming their status as one of today’s most exciting live bands. The project by brothers Shuya and Yoshihiro Okino was first recognised and championed in the early ’90s by Gilles Peterson, an icon of the global jazz and groove movement. Kyoto Jazz Massive are celebrated as innovators who blur the boundaries between jazz, electronica, house, broken beat, and funk.
The concert, organised in collaboration with Fortress of Culture Šibenik, Peti Kupe, and CMA Promotions, continued with an after party hosted by Antonio Zuza.
