Singing company Kolo from Šibenik is active already 117 years and it's in the top of croatian choral singing. It has been awarded many times on the festivals and encounters in Croatia, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Germany. Following many successful concert events held in the past two years, Kolo team is raising the bar this year again: they will have a premiere performance of The Queen Symphony – a masterpiece by composer Tolga Kashif inspired by the songs of the popular Queen, like „Bohemian Rhapsody“, "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champions" and "Who Wants to Live Forever".

''A symphony, that will be performed by the AFRC Symphony orchestra is mostly instrumental with occasional, extremely powerful and impressive choral parts. It is a completely different approach from everything Kolo has done so far, so the audience of Šibenik will have an opportunity to see us in somewhat unusual edition. With The Queen Symphony, Kolo will perform few songs of the group Queen in choral interpretation. The cause for the selection of such a program is the 70th anniversary of the birth of Freddy Mercury, which is being celebrated and spoken of by the whole musical world“ declared Krešimir Grubić, the chairman of singing company Kolo.

The Queen Symphony was performed for the first time in 2002 by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Brian May, Roger Taylor and Jer Bulsara, Freddy Mercury's mother, and it doesn't stop to amaze people ever since. Kashif has even sold out the Sydney opera with his piece and performed in Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Turkey, Germany and other european countries.

''The visitors on St Michael's fortress come from all the parts of Croatia, and our goal is that the stage on the fortress is recognized by the international audience as well. Cooperation with Kolo on yet another excellent mutual project completes very well with our main task, and that is the maintenance of the quality programs that will raise the level of cultural offer in the town, intended for all the visitors, domestic and foreign guests“,  declared  Gorana Barišić Bačelić, head of the Department for the management of the fortification system of the Museum of town Šibenik.

The fortress of St Michael, the most prestigious stage in the region and the place of unforgettable events with more than 250 000 visitors in less than two years has hosted renowned domestic and foreign performers, like Maksim Mrvica, Josipa Lisac, Thievery Corporation, 2Cellos, LADO ensemble, The National, Nouvelle Vague, Massimo, Motovun Film Festival, Rundek Cargo Trio, Parni Valjak, Amira Medunjanin, Detour, Perpetuum Jazzile and others.

The royal symphony in honor of the royal town on a unique stage which gives an extra value to each concert and makes it special, and in the performance of singers-amateurs who already proved themselves as top performers will mark conveniently a jubilee 950th anniversary of the first remembrance of the town Šibenik and stand side by side with the world's best performances.
