The Night of Fortresses, an event that connects and promotes programs at fortification locations throughout Europe, this year will be held on Friday, May 10.
All established localities in Europe and other heritage institutions can participate in this year's edition of the Night of Fortresses by submitting their application via the online form on the website of the event. Applications are open today, and will last until April 12, 2024.
In addition to basic information about their site(s), the organizers should also present the planned program(s), whether it be exhibitions, lectures, workshops, music programs, film screenings, dance performances, plays, organized tours, open days and/or similar content. It is important to note that participation in the Night of Fortresses is completely free, and that all planned programs must be free and available to all visitors.
The goal of the event, which united 45 fortification sites in six European countries in its previous editions, is to improve the cultural and tourist offer in European cities with established heritage, and to raise awareness of the potential and importance of the valorization of cultural heritage as a generator of cultural tourism development.
At the same time, the Night of the Fortresses expands and strengthens cooperation between cities and organizations that manage the fortified monumental heritage. The event takes place with the support of the international associations EFFORTS (European Federation of Fortified Sites) and FORTE CULTURA, which included the Night of Fortresses in the European Fortress Summer Event.
