Legendary Guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai Perform as a Band for the First Time – Live at St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik!
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, two of the greatest guitar masters of all time, are coming to Šibenik’s St. Michael’s Fortress on Friday, August 1, 2025, as part of their massive European tour.
Celebrating nearly five decades of musical friendship, these two guitar legends will close out their two-month-long European tour, “Surfing The Hydra”, with an exclusive concert at this stunning fortress.
Satriani and Vai first collaborated on “The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1”, and their second joint effort will be released just before the tour. This special performance will feature each guitarist playing a solo set, followed by a unique jam session where both take the stage together.
"I’m excited to share the stage with Steve again. Every time we play together, it takes me back to our teenage years—absorbing music every moment, pushing each other, and striving to be the best we can be. We’ve never stopped doing that," says Satriani.
"Touring with Joe is always an honor and a pleasure. He’s my favorite guitarist to jam with, and now we get to do it live on stage. I feel like we’re both at the top of our game, and this show will be a celebration of the greatest instrument in the world—the electric guitar," adds Vai.
Their musical journeys have been intertwined from the start—Steve Vai began learning guitar from Satriani at just 12 years old. Over the past three decades, Joe Satriani has toured the world, played in sold-out arenas, and founded the G3 project (where Vai is also a regular), as well as the supergroup Chickenfoot. Known for his technical precision and versatility, Satriani has sold over 10 million live recordings, achieved platinum album status, and earned 15 Grammy nominations.
Steve Vai, a virtuoso guitarist, composer, and producer, is consistently ranked among the top 10 guitarists in the world, according to Guitar World magazine. Recognized for his high standards of excellence, he holds honorary doctorates and is inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Over nearly five decades, Vai has sold more than 15 million records, won three Grammy Awards, and collaborated with icons like Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake. He’s also the author of “Vaideology: Basic Music Theory for Guitar Players”.
This first-ever tour as a band is an unmissable opportunity to witness two of the most legendary guitarists of our time on one of Dalmatia’s most breathtaking stages.
