Šibenik Dance Festival: PUPO - Komoco Dance Company

On July 26, the Šibenik Dance Festival returns to St. Micahel's Fortress with the show PUPO by the Komoco Dance Company!

PUPO is an Italian contemporary masterpiece, the work inspired by Carlo Collodi's "Pinocchio”, a story of a wooden puppet who wants to be a real child. How does the naive child grow up and no longer allow himself to be manipulated by others? In images and movements reminiscent of the commedia dell'arte, the Italian choreographer asks herself whether the fantastic fairy tale for children about lies that are punished, may not in fact be a story for the adults.

Sofia Nappi is an Italian choreographer and dancer, the artistic director and co-founder of Komoco Dance Company. She graduated from the New York’s Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and deepened her studies internationally. The close cooperation with the Hofesh Shechter Company and her studies of Naharin’s Gaga movement played a fundamental role in the formation of her choreographic manuscript. For her works, Nappi won different important awards and with the Komoco company, she has already made guest appearances in Germany, USA, Mexico, Netherlands, Israel, France, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, as well as at numerous Italian festivals and dance platforms, including the Venice Biennale.
