Air Play Moon Safari

The kings of retro chill-out music, Air, are coming to St. Michael's Fortress on August 4th! Šibenik will thus be among selected European cities chosen by this French duo for a short tour where they will exclusively perform their iconic album Moon Safari.

The Moon Safari tour marks Air's return after seven years of absence from the scene, as Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel have been dedicated to solo music and film projects in the meantime. Fans of their first and, according to many, best album "Moon Safari," which redefined the concept of modern downtempo music upon its release in 1998, will be delighted to hear that the duo has reunited to embark on a short tour of European cities, performing only that album.

Through Moon Safari, Air transfixed some of the great visionaries of the late 20th century — David Bowie, Madonna, Beck — as well as influencing preeminent aesthetes of the incoming age — including Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kevin Parker and Sofia Coppola, whose creative relationship with Air became as synergetic as that of Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch (another fan).

Moon Safari birthed hit singles in “Kelly Watch The Stars,” “All I Need” and “Sexy Boy”, shifted million copies around the world, and pushed Air into headline contention at banner festivals.

25 years on, it’s not hard to alight upon why “Moon Safari” has stood the test of time. It’s a mood you want to live inside of forever. It’s a revelation. It’s conversation pit music for a better future.

Dunckel summarises his own album as “a deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery.” “To me,” Godin concludes, “Moon Safari is perfect.”

A special experience will undoubtedly be listening to Moon Safari at the centuries-old fortress with a view of the sea, just a day after Kruder & Dorfmeister's performance at St. Michael’s Fortress on Saturday, August 3rd. Just a few days later, on August 6th, the musical icon Roisin Murphy will take the summer stage of the Fortress as part of the Yammatovo Summer.

Tickets are available from Monday, June 10th 2024 online via Eventim, exclusively for Mastercard cardholders for the first 24-hour.

After that the tickets will be available to the general public from Tuesday, June 11th at noon via the Eventim and in the City Point of Šibenik's Fortresses (Šibenik).
