JM Jazz World Orchestra
Young musicians from all over the world gathered together in JM Jazz World Orchestra. At Barone Fortress they delighted the audience with top-notch musical performance under the baton of prominent American jazz trombonist, composer and arranger, Luis Bonilla.
The Orchestra is a project developed by the International Musical Youth (Jeunesses Musicales International), the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to young musicians, that has been active for six years.
Here is the glimpse of 2017 Croatian tour:
To become part of the orchestra, young musicians from all over the world between the ages of 18 and 26, must undergo demanding auditions and outshine their talented rivals. In 2019, two young musicians from Croatia found their place in this orchestra composed of 21 top musicians.
Apart from switching members, the orchestra's artistic leadership alters each year. In 2019, the honor was given to Luis Bonilla, a virtuoso on the trombone that has been playing on tours with Phil Collins for the last two years. He is a long-time member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the band Dave Douglas & Brass Ecstasy. During his career, he also played with famous musicians from other genres, including Diana Ross and Marc Anthony. He is a lecturer at prestigious Manhattan School of Music and the New England Conservatory; and therefore the role of a mentor comes to him naturally.
Under his guidance, JM Jazz World Orchestra will continue its music mission this year - performing at European jazz festivals and prestigious concert venues. So far, they have been guests of numerous renowned European festivals, such as the Gaume Jazz Festival and the Brosella Jazz Festival in Belgium, the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Netherlands, while they have been performing in Croatia for a few years now at Jazz and Back BP in Grožnjan.
