St. Michael’s Fortress, Šibenik // Saturday, 24 July 2027
Beth Gibbons, founding member, songwriter and singer of Bristol legends Portishead, will make her Croatian live debut at St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik on Saturday, 24 July 2027.
As a member of Portishead, Beth Gibbons is part of one of the most influential bands of the 1990s. In Šibenik, she will present her debut solo album, Lives Outgrown. Her Croatian appearance comes on the final leg of the album’s extensive world tour, which will conclude at St. Michael’s Fortress.
Released in spring 2024, Lives Outgrown is Beth Gibbons’ first fully solo album. It received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike and earned a Mercury Prize nomination. Gibbons describes it as her most personal work to date, exploring themes of change and farewells. Publications such as The Observer have praised its blend of folk, classical and jazz textures, which provide a backdrop to the Portishead singer’s elegant, mesmerising voice.
Lives Outgrown builds on her small but impeccable discography, which includes Portishead’s three studio albums. The band’s distinctive sound helped define the 1990s and influenced countless genres and musicians.
Her discography also includes Out of Season, the 2002 collaborative album with Rustin Man, and a live performance of Symphony of Sorrowful Souls with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. She can also be heard alongside Kendrick Lamar on “Mother I Sober” and on the compilation HELP 2, with her cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Sunday Morning”.
With public appearances exceptionally rare and as much as a decade sometimes passing between tours, Beth Gibbons’ arrival promises to be one of the standout musical events in Croatia next summer.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, 30 October, at 11 a.m. via Eventim and Core Event.
The concert is jointly organised by LAA and Fortress of Culture Šibenik.
