Launch of the learning and exchange programme to support Ukraine’s cultural heritage

06.05.2024.

Šibenik, Croatia – The Erste Stiftung Foundation and the PCI Fortress of Culture Šibenik, are proud to announce the initiation of the "Transforming a Community through Sustainable Management of Cultural Heritage" Learning and Exchange Programme. This innovative program is set to take place from June 30 to July 7, 2024, at St. John’s Fortress Educational Campus in Šibenik, Croatia.

The program aims to provide Ukrainian professionals in the fields of heritage and culture with strategic insights into sustainable heritage management, utilizing EU funds for cultural projects and featuring PCI as a model of successful implementation. This initiative will serve as a platform for in-depth knowledge exchange and will showcase Šibenik’s successful use of EU funds in cultural heritage projects.

The cooperation between the Erste Stiftung Foundation and the PCI Fortress of Culture Šibenik exemplifies a shared commitment to supporting cultural heritage as a cornerstone for community building and economic recovery. The program is designed to offer hands-on experiences and to foster networking among cultural professionals through workshops, site visits, and collaborative projects.

The program was developed in response to the Cultural Policy Labs held in Vienna, a joint project by the ERSTE Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Information of Ukraine. These labs highlighted the need for capacity building among Ukrainian cultural professionals, particularly in light of Ukraine's EU candidate status and the associated opportunities for EU funding.

The program invites Ukrainian professionals and students in the cultural sector to apply. It is fully funded, covering all program fees, travel, accommodation, and meals, ensuring a focus on learning and exchange without financial barriers.

"Transforming a Community through Sustainable Management of Cultural Heritage" is more than a program; it's a mission to empower Ukrainian cultural professionals through education, collaboration, and direct exposure to best practices in heritage management," stated Yana Barinova/Erste Stiftung Foundation. "We believe this initiative will make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s cultural preservation."
